Week One was an informative one. We learned about a myriad of topics, including cinematography and filming techniques and terms, as well as a little bit about the history of Flushing. On our walks we learned about harmful and predatory tenant displacement techniques. The picture I am attaching is from one of the walks. However, the most helpful activity we did was filming ourselves and then watching the film. Because we did this, we were able to identify the issues we had in front of the camera. For me, I started off shy, and you could see that in my tone of voice and in my posture. I feel like seeing this helped me prepare for week 3's interview with the Ming Kwon Center. I also really enjoyed seeing the Inception step by step shot list/ camera angles. I had no idea that so many spur of the moment decisions went down in the timing process. It was at that point that I really embraced the idea of being a production team. I look forward to learning more about the filming process in the future!
