In Samuel Stein’s article, “Tenants Won This Round”, Stein discusses how the “new” life of tenants after the passing of a new bill. Stein states, “Unlawful eviction is now a crime, and new protections have been added to prevent landlords from “retaliatory evictions,” or evictions based on tenants’ complaints or organizing” (1). After the passing of this new bill, the lives of many tenants have changed because now they are more secure in regards to holding on to their apartments and houses. For a very long time, tenants have suffered in terms of fighting to keep their houses in which they have lived for over decades. Although, tenants still continue to fight for housing this new law provides them with hope and the opportunity to “fight” back in legal terms.
