As soon as you get off the 7 train on the last stop which is Flushing, you will witness a lot of pedestrian traffic and the typical street traffic. It is as bad if not worse than walking through midtown Manhattan during the peak of rush hour. Downtown is the new modernized Chinatown, having high rise glass buildings, sophisticated Chinese restaurants all while still maintaining authentic Chinese establishments. Now if you were to go one or two blocks down (as if you were walking towards citi field) you will witness the most horrific urban layout in all of New York city. You have construction of proposed condominiums all along college point, you have the sky view mall, even more construction behind the mall, and in the middle of it all you have a housing development that is being pushed under the rug. With the displacement of those who have been in the community for decades drove long time and familiar businesses to sell and close their doors forever. Staples of the community are now gone while new condominiums and modern hangout spots are taking over.
